Perfect weather and a large and happy crowd were the order of the day at LPS on Saturday, 31st March. Community members started arriving for a bbq breakfast from 8:30am, and then staying to peruse and participate in the many activities and stalls on offer. The hoopla, merry go round, G-Force ride, pick-a-box, showbags, AFL pass the ball, sponge throw, market stalls, Lions Club train ride, cake and lolly stalls, K-2 Family Portraits, Greasy Pole, showbags and live entertainment were just some of the features of the day enjoyed by all.
Our 'Alpaca Penny' competition was well suppported, along with our major raffle, with numerous winners being announced at 2pm before the conclusion of the day. The $1000 1st prize for the Alpaca "drop" was shared between two lucky winners, with Mr Alpaca deciding he wanted to share the spoils and therefore delivering the 'prize' over two squares!
A day like this is not possible without the contribution and good-will of so many people. Fair coordinator Melissa Anthony is to be congratulated on her leadership, planning and commitment to this event. A hard-working P&C team joined her months beforehand to ensure a great outcome. Once again this small, but exceptionally hard-working LPS P&C are to be congratulated for a job well done. To David Fuller for the loan of one of his alpacas, Mark Kearines Fencing Contractors for the alpaca fence, Gary & Maria Ryan for the hours and resources spent on Friday painting the grid, all of the stall owners and managers, volunteer helpers, people who helped set up on Friday and from 6am Saturday morning, our sponsors, to the wonderful Bec Lawson and the very talented LHS students who provided the entertainment, Steph for her role as MC, the countless people who supplied products and purchased tickets, LPS staff for their time and support, and of course the wider Leeton and local community who came along on the day a HUGE THANKYOU!
